Five Favorite Flats for Spring
I’m always so excited to finally break out my favorite spring shoes after winter–not just the cold, but the snow and slush and salt on the ground! I’m sharing my perfect spring wardrobe soon, but I didn’t want to take up the entire post with shoes. I received a request on Instagram to share my favorite flats for spring, so I wanted to share them here!
Belgian Shoes: I bought my first pair of Belgians last year after finally feeling “adult” enough to wear them. I bought a pair in black suede, so not quite spring appropriate–I’ve been eyeing a pair in a lighter color for the spring! They are very comfortable, elegant, and go with almost everything! They are are an investment, but worthwhile–they will last a lifetime.
Needlepoint Slippers: I’ve always loved needlepoint slippers–the pink needlepoint slippers pictured in this post are some of my most-worn in the spring and summer! Stubbs & Wootton has a great collection and they last forever. My pair is almost thirty years old! While the pink and green colorway isn’t available any longer, Stubbs has the same design in coral and in blue! I also have my eye on the Kent pair* for this spring.
Ballet flats: The ballet flat might be overdone, but they are a classic for a reason. I love my Porselli flats, and I’ve shared information on how to order those here. They are worth the wait, though you can also check to see which ones are in stock and ready to ship now here.
Formal flats: I have a few upcoming events this spring that require more formal attire–I don’t wear heels, so a more formal flat is crucial. I’m a lifelong Ferragamo Vara* wearer, but I’ve had my eye on these Ann Mashburn buckle shoes, too.
Espadrilles: I find espadrilles to be a great spring and summer shoe for many reasons–you can dress them up (within reason) or down, and they are comfortable and easy to walk in, which is key for me. I love the navy Castañer espadrilles I’ve had for years, and I also have my eye on a lower pair for everyday wear.

I love these ideas! The suggestions for formal flats are so helpful – I don’t wear heels either and always have trouble finding formal shoes that are chic and comfortable.
Thanks, Sara! I’m so glad you found this list helpful–it was helpful for me to remind myself, too 🙂
Can Stubbs be resoled? If so, how do you choose a good cobbler? Thanks for your help!
They can and actually these pink needlepoint ones have been resoled about five times! I have a great cobbler in the town where I live, but I’ve also had these resoled at Leather Spa in the city. If you’re not local to NYC, you can mail your shoes in to them, and they have done a really excellent job with mine. https://leatherspa.com/customer-services/mail-in
I hope this helps! 🙂
