Outfit Post: Summer Stripes
I happened to spend the hottest day of the summer in the city and I knew there was no better way to escape the heat than to take a brief respite in Central Park! I interview the fantastic honoree for our fall dinner dance last Tuesday, and her office is conveniently right across the street from one of my favorite places in the city. When my husband and I were first engaged and married, we lived right at the northeast corner of the Park, and spent part of every day at Harlem Meer and the Conservatory Garden. I haven’t been this far north since we left the city in 2018, so it was a really special visit! (I made a little reel of my visit, and you can also find my other favorite places in Central Park here!)
I was so happy I got to wear the skirt I’ve been hunting for for about a decade–MDS Stripes Gracie skirt*. I’ve been a fan of his interior design for years, and had the pleasure of meeting him at a book signing at Ann Mashburn in Georgetown several years ago. I was so glad to track this skirt down!
I paired this skirt with one of my summer staples, the J. Crew slim perfect t-shirt*. It’s one of the few items I still buy regularly from J. Crew. The sleeves are the perfect length and the fabric is thick enough to be opaque without being stiff.
To celebrate one year of Fewer & Better, I finally pulled the trigger on a second pair of Belgians! It’s clearly only the start of a large collection. I find these shoes to be perfect for just about every situation, and they were certainly comfortable even on an exceptionally hot day!
I wore my mother’s pearl earrings* and this necklace* I received as a Christmas gift from my godmother a decade ago. It is one of two necklaces I wear with any regularity and I love its dainty look.
